The Splash of Colour Art Exhibiition takes place on May 4 at Showpro, located at 598 Falconbridge Rd.

The exhibition features work by Carol Laprairie, who recently took up painting large, modern, contemporary paintings. Well-known Sudbury impressionist artist Christy A. Smith has been mentoring Carol in preparation for the show. "Carol is an amazing artist. Her contemporary style of oil painting is bold of colour, full of motion and has a strong sense of freshness," Christy says. "Her excitement and positive zest for life shines through her artwork in a wonderful manner. I smile and feel very happy when I witness Carol's artwork."

Carol, a lifelong resident of Coniston, is no stranger to her creative side, and the paintbrush is only the latest in a long line of art tools she has mastered. For years she has explored art through carving, wood-burning, woodwork, folk art painting and hairdressing. The exhibition runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
