Museums & Heritage

Northern Ontario Railroad Museum & Heritage Centre

TrainDiscover what real railroading is all about! Revisit a time when rails and ties connected people and communities. Admire Bullet-Nosed Betty, the streamlined 6077 steam engine or relive life on a 1930s Caboose that served as home away from home to many. Imagine a train whistle signaling students back to class as you walk through the School on Wheels.  Enter a boxcar home - a converted Baggage Car. Visit the circa 1923 Fire Hall and Police Station, where the occasional “criminal” still gets locked in jail! Learn about the mining, lumbering and heritage of the Sudbury area. Sip a cuppa in the Tea Room or find tranquility in the Garden of Life, a tribute to organ donors and the recipients whose lives they have impacted. Check out the daily specials and local favourites at one of the neighbourhood restaurants - popular spots for hungry railroaders.

The museum is open daily from June to August from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and open from September to May by appointment only.
There is parking on site.
