Top 5 Sudbury and Area Day Trips

Here in Sudbury, many of our landmarks and attractions are quite obvious: the second largest science centre in Canada, Science North; the Big Nickel that lives up to its name; the Superstack that towers on our skyline; the clear blue lakes around every corner... While these sights are well worth your travels, there are many other hidden gems in and around our city. Here’s my current favourite list of 5 day trips in Sudbury:

Big Fun at Big Nickel and Dynamic Earth #SudburyTourism

Guest Post by Christine from Life on Manitoulin, July 18, 2016

Inquisitive minds will enjoy checking out Big Nickel and Dynamic Earth in Sudbury, Ontario.

I have to admit that I have lived in Northern Ontario for twelve years, and this was my first time checking out Dynamic Earth.  It’s been on my travel bucket list for a while now, and I can now say that I’m checking it off the list. I’ve been to Science North countless times, and though Dynamic Earth is part of Science North, I haven’t had the chance (until now) to visit the latter.

Northern Ontario Railroad Museum & Heritage Centre #SudburyTourism

July 18, 2016—Guest post by Christine from Life on Manitoulin

"I never even knew such a place existed in the North!” (Little One, aged 7 in reference to the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum & Heritage Centre)

I have to be honest.  Living in Northern Ontario for the past twelve years, I’ve only really made Sudbury trips for either doctor’s appointments, running errands, or just spending the day off-island.  Sudbury has always just been a day trip for me.  Drive two hours, do what I need to do, and then drive back home.  If I happen to do something fun with the family, it is usually enjoying a little spa treatment at Glama Gals, catching a movie at the movie theatre or spending the day at Science North.
